She was a Hatfield
And I  a McCoy
It was just love beween
A girl and a boy

Our daddies grandaddies
And those from before
Might think us irreverant
To open that door

She lived two towns over
It was love at first sight....
We would slip out and meet
Every Sat. night
The neighbors all thought
It just wasn't right
But we were in love
And it wasn't our fight

Only two counties apart
She lived in West V
My home was Kentucky
The suitor was me

To us it was foolish
The feud was so old
Even though it was famous
From the tales that were told

She lived two towns over
It was love at first sight....
We would slip out and meet
Every Sat. night
The neighbors all thought
It just wasn't right
But we were in love
And it wasn't our fight

We'd meet after dark
At a barn down the line
We were not feuding people
For that night she was mine

We would run off together
After school was complete
We'd change both our names
We would be real discreet

She lived two towns over
It was love at first sight....
We would slip out and meet
Every Sat. night
The neighbors all thought
It just wasn't right
But we were in love
And it wasn't our fight

Our folks would reject us
And spoil our joy
Cause here was a Hatfield
With a real McCoy

For now, we'll be secret
Share our love cross the fence
And we'll wait till our kin folk
Wake up with some sense

It is most difficult to examine
this cycle of political rhetoric
The extreme overhyped
campaigns being presented
could be classified as brash
Toddler like in the creative
lies and falsehoods relayed
The Donkey and Elephant
determine themselves to be
parties of the people, more
like ***** of forgetfulness
Tired of the drama
Tired of the lies
Tired of the innuendoes
Over and over we are being
bullied to conform to
the status quo or total
wholesale changes
We desire transparency and
overt clarity to have a glimmer
of a strong world leader
My cynicism remains
crystal in objectivity.

My Pal Joey

A fine young Italian boy, lived in the Big Apple City,
he really made me laugh, now he's gone, it is such a pity,
brother to seven gorgeous ladies, always needing his help,
got hit by a corporate big shot, he left town, not even a yelp

Maurice the Space Cowboy, this was his imaginary pal,
he really loved all the women, fell in love with every gal,
good lookin and ever so friendly, never a time when he felt alone,
hard working and extremely kind, never an irreverant tone,

his friends have all moved on, most of them married away,
still single and searching for only he knows, every night and day,
moved west to California, trying to enhance his career,
but his agent was of little use, she was never exactly clear

so sad to see you go my friend, I'll miss you more than you know,
your line of “how are you doin”, always stole the show,
I hope one day you will return, and even though you don't know me,
yes good luck to you, whatever you do, you'll always be, My Pal Joey

My fingers trace the outline of your lips
I wish somehow I could forget your kiss
This photograph of you
is making me feel blue
since from me you're a thousand miles removed

Why did you go away?
Why did you go away
so suddenly the wind and God alone knew you were gone?
I had nothing to say
what could I really say?
You didn't care enough to stay with me, so now we're done

And your cold, irreverant act
when you said you'd be back
in just a little while is history
and every warm embrace
that we shared in disgrace
has almost been erased from memory

My fingers trace the outline of your lips
oh how I wish they never told a lie
like when you said you loved me
and even though I cried,
the next day you left with another guy

This photograph of you
is making me feel blue
'*** I know we will never kiss again, so why pretend?
There's just one thing to say
now that you're far away
please don't ever come back here and let us not be friends
