Emocean
Jeett Ratadia Apr 2020
He threw a pebble in my emocean.
It silently sank to the bottom.
He was dry. He caused no commotion.

Struggling,
he threw a boulder in my emocean.
A small splash. It sank.
He got a little wet - tears rolled down
in slow motion.

Every muscle burning,
he pushed a mountain into my emocean.
A big splash. Inevitably, it sank.
He was drenched. He caused a lot of commotion.

Mustering all his will,
He shook my crust, my foundation.
A giant wave, as tall as the sky, rose
and swallowed him. He drowned
in my emocean.

Love is the river that we're all emerged in.
We must embrace it for what it's worth if we ever hope to win.*

Going against the tide causes a lot of frustration
While standing still only furthers contemplation.
Whatever your muse, only you choose to do what you do,
and as your eyes gaze upon that big beautiful blue
you must ask yourself what's best for you.
For in this time when we are carried by the grandest emotion,
you see that the river expands, into an ever-growing ocean.

Do you ever read something you wrote when you were little and you just really wanna die a little because you were so cheesy?

Me at age 11: " I am a sea of feelings. I am an emocean."
Once I was 11 years old......

the poems about you are my best ones
they write themselves, you know
i am nothing but a medium through which words pass
i simply have to bring you to mind
-something that is never difficult-
you live inside of my heart and make it quiver
with each blink of your icy blues
waves of emotion wash over me
i'm suspended in an ocean of our memories
and when i'm finally washed ashore,
traces of you are still tangled within my hair,
weaved between my toes
like a dream, i can't remember exactly where i just was
or how i got there,
but written in the sand before me are words,
carefully arranged in a way not nearly as perfect as you
i stole "icy blues" from the song "demolition lovers" by my chemical romance
