A feather, a foot, a flash of orange,
stirring leaves left on the big madrona,
playing hide-and-seek,
suddenly exotic.

Daring, large, fast, gaudy,

Or camouflaged,
a small brown forager
spiraling a tree.

Tending to bark and larvae.
