There was a rose that faded young;
I saw its shattered beauty hung
  Upon a broken stem.
I heard them say, "What need to care
With roses budding everywhere?"
  I did not answer them.

There was a bird, brought down to die;
They said, "A hundred fill the sky--
  What reason to be sad?"
There was a girl, whose lover fled;
I did not wait, the while they said,
  "There's many another lad."

PS
Being with you
is pure bliss,
When your laughter fills the room
When your hair catches the sunlight
When you casually touch my arm
- mid-conversation

Being with you
is slow torture,
When your ignorance suffocates me
When you try my endless patience
When you take and take and take
- every single piece of me

Being with you
is an adventure,
When you spontaneously take me out
When you startle me with your flirting
When you reveal your vulnerable side
- to me and me only

Being with you
is plenty of drama,
When you are stubborn like a child
When you fall into accusing silence
When you treat me like air
- necessary and always given

Being with you
is like a day in wonderland
When you share your deepest thoughts
When your attention is all on me
When you paint our future
- with bright words and shining eyes

Being with you
is heart-breaking
When you cry after him
When you keep chasing dreams
When you're being hurt
- over and over again

Being with you is all I desire
- and what I can never have
star eyed yellow bloom
washed in sunlight's shower
the radiant healer of all your gloom
field full of sunflower!

one a.m. thoughts tossing me around in the surging turmoil of
my cluttered brainwaves, surfing them like elastic
waves in the ocean's tide, bobbing up and down
up and down

one a.m. is lonely tonight, wishing the clock would
stop and give me the gift of time
so I can drink in the darkness and become
numb to these thoughts
thoughts of you, thoughts of leaving, thoughts of leaving you

one a.m. thoughts leave me craving something I can never hope to find
searching through the dark for a light
that only morning can bring
why do I keep searching here in the dark?
here, at one a.m.
when sleep slips out from between my fingers and buries itself beneath these crashing waves

of mosaic sea gem trinkets shimmering in the
colors of coral and gypsy travels
she always found herself on the ocean's shore
between the jubilance of the tide
and the constant of the sand
drinking in the sun's rays as they
sliced through the salt winds
she kept those beams, tucked them away
to give to others with every coming laugh
dreaming in paintbrush strokes and vivid imagination
don't you ever lose that essence of who you are
never stop asking the toughest questions
never stop saying what everyone else is too afraid to voice

It was almost a dream
I couldn't believe
You kissed me, then left
Like the shore and the sea.

Lips like candy floss,
Soft, sugary, and sweet
I was just this city to you
But you were the whole world to me.

I lay on my pillow
I reflect on it again and again
Trying to forget
But you're stuck in my head.

Can't move on any further
I'm stuck in one place
Stuck in my mind
Stuck on your face.

How you looked when you laughed
How you looked when you were sad
How you wrote down observations
In your pocket notepad.

It was almost a dream
I couldn't believe
You kissed me, then left
Like the shore and the sea.
Inspired by Leonard Cohen's "Hey, that's no way to say goodbye."
He found a boundless sea inside  a diamond,
she keeps close to her soul, love pulsates in that ruby precious.
She wears an all -knowing smile, so ravishing,
when he gazes in to it, through her clear blue eyes.

He has seen memories that  quietly rest in her hive,
come searching for him, honeybees seeking the drops,
sweetness of the past inebriating at any time later.

We are wishes perennial of the people of yore,
who never ceased to love us
even after leaving the earth, for realms higher
echoes we are, from labyrinths of time
relayed from the timeless realm,
that appears after counting every universe existing there.

He grabs me into a world that I have never known,
And shines a light into my darkness.
Exposing all my secrets,
The doorway to my soul no longer hidden.

Feelings rushing like a tidal wave,
I fear I will wash away with it.
Grab my hand and save me,
Our magnetic souls will keep us grounded.

Wrap yourself around me,
Like a butterfly’s cocoon.
I will breathe out as you breathe in,
So we can feel like one.

Storm on my horizon
A change in weather grows
For me there is no shelter
These cold fronts bleed my soul

If only I could grasp
The kingdom come my way
Yet I find no shelter
No matter what I pray

So let those voices echo
As the wise and mighty fall
Suffering beyond the shelter
Of those superstitious laws...
