Lonely

Eating you slowly,
you sit and stare into empty space.
You don't realize it,
but everyone walks out of your life
and loneliness walks in.
You embrace it.
You love it.
You can't seem to escape.
It slowly engulfs your bones and soul.
Creeping through your body,
it brainwashes you
and leads you to believe that you
are not worth it.
It greets you every night when everyone is asleep.
You sit in your room and say, "Hello".
"Hello, my dear." it says back.
And you live in isolation.
Seldom feeling happiness.
Dead inside.

I looked into her eyes and knew
She was looking at an angel
And reaching for the hand
of a soldier none of us could see.
Sometimes all that's left to do
Is close your eyes and wait
In memories and selfish tears
For mortality to softly return.
And while we sit around a hospital bed
sipping coffee out of plastic cups, waiting.
She's resting on the ***** of forever
Feasting at the table of the almighty.

behind every smiling girl,
are the tears she’s been trying to hide
may there be times she wants to hurl
letting her pride down, she just let them slide.

sticks and stones, breaking bones
yet words seem painless, seem light.
those were the words she believes on;
battling her great weakness with all her might.

people may laugh, people may mock
repeatedly she says, “I’m fine, I’ll be alright”
as she lays in bed all alone, save for a clock,
she cries and cries as long as the night.

at first glance, she looks so strong
it was only to hide away her true self
she’s fragile, won’t stay sturdy for long
her feelings she stack up on her shelf.

so if you see a girl who smiles with glee,
remember that she’s in a battle, fights night and day
for you not to ask in worry:
“hey, are you okay?”

I was born scared & confused
We are the same
You were born kicking & screaming
We are the same
Since day one you've been a reckless fighter
I swear some days your blood is so hot,
it could burn through your skin
I've always been a nervous wreck
I swear some days my eyes are so lost,
they could fall out of my head
But Dear,
we still held onto each other for dear life
You pulled me carelessly into your veins
until I melted with your blood
I tip toed you softly down my spine
until you grew over my bones
We spent years staying up all night
Shivering into a downward spiral
You painted your frustration under my eyelids
I painted my fear on the backs of your hands
You always knew the pain from me
Plus the pain from you
would just be too excruciating in the end
But I begged,
"I'd rather hit rock bottom in your arms,
then soar on lonesome clouds,
always looking longingly down"
Well you just shook your head
And quickly said,
"Our Hell is the love
that we feel,
but cannot keep"
Looks like you were right
But ****, I'm missing you again tonight

everyone suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues,
and this is mine:

love is not blindness and his especially
his love was not blindness
he saw everything:
what was there
what wasn’t

nonetheless he rested at reading-glass distance
everything in hyperfocus and bigger, like he wanted
like a futuristic camera: oversaturated, overbright

love is not blindness—

love is literature, or wine, or a lens flare
his filled my gaps with what he wanted there
he saw more than the camera did

I cannot condemn, nor could I ever, his amber propensity
to imagine me. to beg literature is a dodge
of responsibility of which we are all
most equally
guilty

and the devil is in the details
that stitched up such an
achingly different forever
than the one he saw

love is not blindness—
his wasn’t, and mine wasn’t
—but it is literature: permission to fill the page
permission to distrust, like I did then
like I do still

forgive me my own amber propensity
to feel the paradox
there

In my mind I see beauty,
Priceless imaginations and fantasies,
Still so many pass by,
Never to have truly lived;

A Spalsh of water,
Dozens of droplets left
To hang in suspension,
Temporarily weightless;

A hillside ablaze, tragic
As it might be, as the tress
A hundred feet tall fall,
Yet life will renew one day;

Two bodies lie together,
One wrapped by the arms
Of another, in silence,
Motionless, in love;

Standing on the shore,
Waves thrashing about ankles,
The sunset so still,
Sleepy above the horizon;

Summer rains
Drench our clothes,
As thunder and lightning
Storm and rumble our hearts;

Laying in the grass,
Warm and dry and green,
Watching from above,
As clouds pass below;

Lengthy moments, with
Another, and you see
Behind those eyes,
The discorded truth;

The capricious life,
Led when one finds
Adventure - finally,
Air that gives breath;

Trees in a forest,
Shuddering in wind
Prepared to die,
To serve others always;

The dance of a flame,
Lit upon a candle,
As if it was such a stage,
Of respect and acclimation,

The embrace of friends,
Love, new and old,
Kinship undying,
Future unnerving;

An infant child,
Held in arms built of
Love and other fine things,
Spoken to in honest tongue;

An evening in the yard,
A ball tossed about,
Suns set each time,
Times long since past;

The will to live,
Truly a special gift,
That which not all ascertain,
Not granted to all alive;

The symphony made up,
From tiny noises does it emanate,
Strong, resolute, with finesse
Collectively, in cooperation;

From atop the highest peaks,
On mountain tops abroad,
The world sprawled out
In utterly perfect disarray;

Passion for Love and Living,
For oneself and for others,
For the tradition and routine,
For the surprise and serendipitous;

Crystal clear waters,
Amply temperate air,
Sunlight broken intermittently,
By green trees and foliage abound;

The propensity to change,
To mold, shape, to evolve,
In fear out of the light,
Found within everything.
From a late night after seeing a beautiful girl for the first time in 6 months, to asking my friends to tell me what beauty they had seen in their lives. It's been by far the most fun I have had with one of my poetic projects.

Definitely open to adding more, if you have any "beautiful" things from life to share, please do!  I would love to hear about them!

To those who helped me by sharing, thank you, and enjoy!  This one goes out to my beautiful friends!

Quiet Whisper

Let me tell you a secret

of a dance that is done
one song at a time
with short.
quick.
stops.
and.
an.
abrupt.
end.

and let me tell you of a poem,
with lines that flow like streams full of thoughts, through the poets mind, eyes, lips and mouth.

and let me show you picture
of
     the
           way
                   words
             can
    create
life
      out
             of
nothing.

Let me whisper a thought to you
that can travel
on a simple note.
a single thought.
and yet the most important, you see.

And If you were to draw a picture, would it be bright and cheerful?
Or if you were to write a song, would it be slow and tender?
Or a poem, rhythmic or timed?
Or a whisper,
a soft quiet word
with no intentions or thoughts of its own.
But, you see, A whisper can linger in the air, my friend
and a whisper is not ever left
unsaid.

So let me tell you a secret
you will not likely forget.
about a dance, a song, a poem, a rhyme,
And a promise that was not kept.

I need to be sure
that this is right for
me... I wish to be
held for a little while.
...
An embrace is comforting. A friend or my parents! :)
