I suppose we’ll get drunk
Maybe that’ll drag me out of this funk
Of television screens and cheap food
An oh, so unforgiving mood

Fretting about the smallest things
Of raw chicken & bankrupt kings
Avoiding sentimental ties
I’ll settle with the unkempt lies

your eyes once were the shade of blue
the way the sky looks
before the sun gives way to the moon

but they are black as midnight now
the starless sky, pitch-dark
oh, what did i do?
did i cause this to you?

your wings, broad and strong
flew me to paradise and back
and to everywhere my feet can’t take me

but you’re featherless now
flightless and short of harbor
oh, fly, please, fly again
feel the wind and fly back to me once more
*
but i’m still broken, darling,
i don’t deserve your loving
The least thing I wanna do is break you.
Life of a single man

Sometimes we *** in the shower
And we hardly ever make the bed
We clean ourselves with shampoo
Using the lather from our heads

At times we wear the same old socks
That we wore the day before
And dont even get us started
On how long jeans last on the floor

When the bed gets made we sleep on top
Then just straighten when we get up
And do we really need to wash the sheets
If our skin they do not touch

We drink milk from the carton
Eat fast food way to much
We have pizza pie for dinner
And eat leftovers when we get up

We want the house to look real clean
So there are rooms that we don't use
When we can write our name in dust
That's when we grab a broom

This is the life of a single man
We just do what we want to do
It is very hard for us to change
When we meet that someone new

So dont try to change us overnight
So far we have made it through
But if by chance we fall in love
We may just change for you

Together we will bond in the darkness
As the light gathers beneath our feet
One will whisper we must be dreaming
Until the sun rises into the sky
We will stay in the cover of the shadows
While the day burns itself out
Night will set us free once again
Together without watchers
Safe to wonder and to wander
In our own little world.

Warm bodies intertwined
Closeness between them
The sheets hold in the heat
Keeping out the winter chill

The music drifts over them
Washing away whatever doubt
Has creeped into their heads
Comforting them in the night

Candlelight crawls to the corners
Casting shadows across the room
Dimly lit they lay and kiss
As the light flickers around them

who knows where love comes from
all that was known is we were young
discrete discussions between stars and sun
on why and how you are leaving

i hear the words as they leave your lips
remembering the accidental sway of your hips
the movement in my hair from your fingertips
another notch in the handle

maybe the winds in winter do blow
where we live the only snow
rests in the scene of a watery globe
next to the shells and sand dollars

so far away where the sun sets
taking with it the last of our regrets
floating on in this salty sea
fading away as far as the eye can see

In ****** battle
Falling down
Shouting curses
Broken crown

Blades of silver
Wounds of gold
Impossible scene
Forced to behold

Horrors and wonders
Hate and love
Mixture of feelings
A demon above

Angel wings
Caught aflame
Halo shattered
Lost royal name

Marble castle
Cracks under blow
Of feather weight
And fallen snow

Acid rain
Falls from red sky
Burns through pale flesh
And watch them die
I look up at the night sky,
wondering what it's like to fly.

To stare down at the city lights,
to finally reach my soaring sights.

In my dream you were there,
but you dont speak you only stare.

Your eyes will tell me what you feel,
let's leave this dream and make it real.

Life may be changing but we'll always have the past,
kiss her as if each kiss will be the last.
