We stand under the starry sky asking,
Did we see the stars fade its light
When we gaze upon them in awe?

We lay on the sand staring to the sky asking,
Did we feel the burn of the sun
When we let its warmth comfort us in the morning?

We dived into the cool waters asking,
Did we feel the crash of the waves
When we we let the water envelope us in calm?

We stand alone in each other's world asking,
Did we feel our hearts already breaking
When we fell in love with each other?
We used to be dreamers
Like how the moon chased the sun
And all he got were the glisten lights
Of little stars that tried too hard

We used to be dreamers
Like waves pursuing each chance
To reach the hands of the shores
Yet never seem enough to

We used to be dreamers
That painted the sky red
With the burning passion
That blazed stronger than the sun

We used to be dreamers
Where we could paint with fire
And sing with the wind
Like wandering souls travelling by

We used to be dreamers
That sought the stars in each other's eyes
Where no one can surpass us
But who are we now?
The radiance of the star that leans on me
Was shining years ago. The light that now
Glitters up there my eyes may never see,
And so the time lag teases me with how

Love that loves now may not reach me until
Its first desire is spent. The star's impulse
Must wait for eyes to claim it beautiful
And love arrived may find us somewhere else.
Standing on opposite hemispheres
The view was ever so different.
He said, “Let me show you the sun”
But all she could hear was his voice
And its whispered golden promises
In her silver moonlit ear.

Patience turning time
In planetary pirouettes
Blinded, blinded…
But finally, to see!
Infinite white sands
And where was he?
She tried her best
To grow the wings he wanted
And where was he…

A massive pair of wings they were
Impressive, as the dragons fly
Made of shining leaf and dreams
Collected from a glowing sky
Constructing tomorrows from memories,
She found herself.

Then suddenly,
A golden voice out of silence,
Muffled and confessing from closeby,
Head held in hands,
Hands scratched from digging inside
“I’m sorry
That I have not been perfect to you.”

She lifted his head
And kissed his scars.
“I never asked you to be.”

No matter where I look today,
There are roses with notes that say,
"I love you, dear. Let's run away
Together; I can't wait another day."

Here I am -- once again, alone.
This time I've banished boys to the "friend zone";
I'm independent and can hold my own.
I need no man, or a beautiful stone.

Yet, I'm not content with the fee
I pay for solidarity.
I've no one to call me "honey"
Or to leave the light on for me.
From the prompt: Write a poem for valentine's day of no more than 20 lines about spending valentine's day all by yourself. The only rules are that it must rhyme, and the final line of the poem must include the title of your favorite song. The song I used was "Leave the Light On" by Priscilla Ahn. You should give it a listen; it's splendid.
To touch the skin of one,
To match the touch of two.
A reciprocated heat,
a touch of two flesh,
With the creation of one body.
Fluids of love,
Mixing
Binding
Digging deep,
Finding,
Whatever treasures lie beneath the waters.

Therapeutic,
A rhythmic click,
with each deep dive,
Perfect synchronisation
Creating the sweetest sensation,
Push,
With no hesitation.
No rest,
Full concentration.
Salty air kisses my face in the darkness of the night
only the distant flashes of light
make the waves glow, the illumination of a calm moon nowhere in sight
the early autumn air rushes across my exposed skin
the lapping of the waves, mesmerizing pulls me in
warmth of a running engine purring under my feet
the cold metal roof becomes my seat
the black backdrop of the sky my ceiling
chilled hands feeling the light raindrops running over my palms
peaceful, unnervingly calm
as the storm rages on
every bolt of lightning unique and spontaneous
struggling to find something in my life that pertains to this
humbling feeling of isolation and solitude
i'd love to say i thought of you
as the low thunder rumbled seeming to run across the sea
to these very feet
but i'd be a liar and you'd feel significant
we were simply flashes of lightning, nothing different
blazing a night sky with our spectacular glow and intensity
flashes of memories
never striking in sync or together
i never understood the weather better
then how well i feel it at this moment
i was lightning in a bottle, you were never meant to hold it....
The seaside is the prime example of lovers
The way it trembles, swishes and sways
Like humans under the covers
Just longing to stay there for days

But alas, it could not break the tight seal of reality
The shore and the tide, bound to part in all of their pain
Still, amidst this pretentious practicality
They go on adoring one another all the same

It’s like hills, you see
The way that we slide together and apart
Dear boy, it is you and me
And I pray, it is a sacred art

Of slipping and sliding and going insane
Of crashing together and mixing together
Me part of you, and you of me, the same
Making the parting all the more pregnant with pain

But, dear, you know what I see?
I see the world flooded over, the water never to leave – what you and I, I and you can forever be.
