of memory lane's path
some elderly folk can no more amble
for their minds are caught
in a forgetful shamble

their yesterdays all obliterated
by an insidious brain complaint
which dims the path of past events
in a most faint paint

as time progresses
their minds can't retain a thing
they are in a state
of aimless wandering

dementia is a place where
we'd not like to go
as its path loses track
of the footprints in times ago
