Silent Listener
I pretended to sleep,
Not wanting to leave.
You fell for my ploy,
I thought you'd retreat.
You had things to do,
We were no longer talking.
But you stayed on the line
Only occasionally laughing.
Why would you stay?
I'm trying to understand.
Did you listen as I sighed,
Was this your plan?
Maybe you were waiting,
Wanting me to speak.
Maybe it was comfort,
Listening to me "sleep".
When you finally hit end,
I was left with this doubt.
I'm over-thinking this,
You just forgot to sign out.
