yesterday my button
wouldn't do up
as my girth has become
a little too round
last year my pants
fitted so perfectly
but since I've put on
a few extra pounds
they are far too tight
around my portly belly
how quickly the weight
can be gained
one has ballooned
into a size eighteen  
no more does
a smaller jean fit
that is why
my button popped free
