the dog owner neglected
his so called friend
no sustenance to the dog
did he kindly tend

over a period of time
the poor wretch ebbed away
he took his last panting breath
on that hot summer's day

twas criminal what the dog owner
did foist upon the dog
for his uncaring actions
he deserves a thumping good flog

his heartlessness
truly unforgivable
the dog seemingly
to his eye twas invisible

every day dogs die
in a state of distress
their owners perpetrating
undeniable cruelness
