Poisoned by Words
I tried to rip you from my memories
like pages from a book.
I tried to scrape you from my skin
like you were a disease growing
within my veins.
I tried to remove you from my thoughts
like you never existed
I tried to forget that sleepless night
Like it was my mission.
I tried not to remember the empty words
like they were poison
I tried to be the fighter
like I was defeat less
I tried to pretend
Like you didn't break me.
For 6 years I tried.
