Scent of the dead Stiff lifeless body Through now which no blood flows Dark red liquid once upon a time Coursed through blue veins Strong heartbeat steady and slow
This being was a living spirit Warm breath Though the heart no longer beats In cold still breast Prayers of a priest Tears from the mourners Meeting your god in eternal rest
The smell of death Beside hallowed grave Where now the decaying body lay Cold as the deep The long inevitable sleep Covered in the smell of death
