mother
mother gave her life to me
gave me her hugs,
so i could feel her heartbeat
she held me close,
and whispered my name,
like a promise.
all this went away
with a few words
…
blank, my face.
i never would have thought
i never would have thought.
if mother hadn’t said that thought
i wouldn’t have chosen to rot.
