Absence of light
Present at night
Proof that man fears the unknown
And its place can't be known

A symbol of fear, terror and harm
One that has spooked every man
Whether black, yellow or white
All have once feared its might

But what does it mean to me
As I sit in the thick of it
It's a place of peace, freedom and hope
For no one can see me when I mope

For me the Darkness is not scary,
It's simply a quiet place
Where I and my mind can commune
And I simply love the silence of a tomb

I sit there with my dreams
Broken or not,
Achieved or not,
Hoped for or not.
