I killed the nightmare
fogging my eyes with ashy debris.
That creeping crawling darkness
slithering through my rib cage
chilling every vessel and clogging
every breath of a new dawn.
Grabbing it by the throat,
it thrashed and hissed as
its life blood dripped then gushed
under the squeezing pressure of my fist.
I killed my snaking nightmare
and the ****** thorns pricking my gasping heartbeats
melted into the carbonating sea...

My 5 year old grandson gave me the title to this poem as he explained his nightmare.  And the rest of my words just flowed!  Our first collaboration!
