The bitter cold
Is in full bloom
Its sharp winds
Are singing hymns
That strike my cheekbones
Like a fresh razor
With Summer long past
The birds have packed and left
Abandoning their nests
Off to search for sunnier leaves
As Winter thrives
And lays us to rest
I'll freeze with the roots
Of the lonely naked trees
Until the ice melts
Into the sweet chirps of Spring
