Have we become a Nation
That has suddenly gone blind
With the handouts we keep taking
Every bitter bite
Of their excuses
Mixed with half-truths and lies
Where went our senses
And the sight to our eyes

Have we become a Nation
That can no longer hear
The many words of warning
Coming in so clear
Is it the boy who cried wolf
Or chicken little far off somewhere
Have we heard it so many times
That we no longer care

Have we become a Nation
That has lost the ability to taste
The trash they are feeding
Straight to our face
Whether it is fried
Raw, broiled, or baked
A lie is still a lie
Now matter where on the plate it's placed

Have we become a Nation
That has lost our touch
We used to know pure evil
And called it out as such
Now the best we can do
Is put on a good front
Then wash our hands of the problems
While we all stay out to lunch

Have we become a Nation
That has lost our sense of smell
Something here is rotten
As we struggle to tell
What in the world could it be
And how can we be helped
To come to our senses
Before it all goes to hell
