the cake I made this morning
was a disaster
the ingredient to get it to rise
I left out of the cake batter

when the timer rang
to say the cake was cooked
I looked in the oven
and the cake was as flat as the cook

it is vital to have baking powder
in this cake recipe
and to omit it from the ingredients list
has made a fool out of me

this afternoon I'll be without a fine cake
for afternoon tea
and I'll have to settle
for some bread and honey
