Most of the time they are not worth the effort
but my generosity of spirit and ethical kindness
not to mention my pity and tolerance
demands I do not let them go hungry
I do not leave them forlorn and ignored

So I visit them
help them lance their boils
and leave little food parcels for them
it is written
be kind to the unkind
for they are incapable of being kind
to themselves

Thus they are profoundly limited
they see but yet have no sight
they know yet do not know they know
hence the ravishing hunger
on a bellyful of nothing
