You know the old expression "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone"?
Well, it is certainly true:
I didn't realize how much I loved my Father until I found him dead. I didn't realize how much I appreciated my Lover until I found myself single. I didn't realize how much I wanted to sleep until I had to be at work. I don't realize how ignorant I am until I take a step back from myself. I didn't realize how much I want to live while I can until I seriously thought about death at my own hand. -- The moral of the story is to appreciate the here and now. Even if it could be better, perhaps especially even then, try to remind yourself of what you already have to lose and what it would be like for the others around you if they were to lose you and what it would be like for you if you were to lose them:
Respect the things you love. Respect everything. Respect yourself.
Do not squander your time; it is good to take your time, but seek the balance.
Take it from me: you truly cannot know what you may lose tomorrow, so please enjoy what you have right here and now.
If you don't, you may well lose it.
Eventually, everything is lost to the void; but in the meantime, celebrate that it is here; celebrate that you are here. For now.
