in Greenwood, Indiana
mid-winter

wind blowing
across the
flatlands

a car wash
across from
a giant mall

lines of cars
waiting

me with
white towels
in my hands

trying to dry

off the cars before
the towels freeze to
my hands

and remove skin

for sixty hours
a week

for $3.35
an hour

and maybe a tip
(not usually)
