A NIGHT OF HOPE

Tonight,
I choose joy, seeing the moon as its rays dispel darkness, sweeping -
around this countenance, funny how the seasons change a day sunshine,
and the cleansing rain splashing hopes to every corner of the heart.

I choose the sating joy of wines from the vineyard, despite ageing, a tongue
of sourness is a taste of sweetness.

I choose joy, as I hide my tears behind deluded smiles.
And, even with bleeding wounds and cracks in the heart,
I learn to cover miles.

Tonight, I choose joy, as I
taste the fruit that joyfulness yields.
