The Dotted Line

I thought the pain was over
Time has made our love so cold
But now the house where we once lived
Is in contract to be sold

Its been two years since I saw you
And no longer are you mine
But they say we both must be there now
To sign the dotted line

I couldn't help but feel the pain
As you walked into the room
The silence was so very loud
As I stopped and looked at you

They put the forms in front of us
And pointed where to sign
To the left I signed my name in bold
Just below the dotted line

To the right I saw a new name
One I didnt recognize
For you took his name a year ago
And left my name behind

That house where we once planned our life
Has now been sold to someone new
I watched as they received the keys
And hid my sadness from your view

This is the last I'll see you
The final ending of our time
For today we signed two different names
Just above the dotted line

Well this one is just for me,  A way of release and I hope it brought you in to feel the story.
