Don’t look me in the eye.

The eye is close to the cheek

and you will see my pink blush

and my embarrassed fluster

at your gentle approach.

Don’t look me in the eye.

The eye is close to the mouth

and you will see my lips bitten

as I ponder what to say,

fruitless all the while.

Don’t look me in the eye.

The eye is close to the heart;

my secret gaze is hard to hide

and has been encapsulated by your

kind and loving heart

long before your look

stole mine.
