You yelled in your sleep
Saying you had dreamt of ***** chasing you
We laughed it off
as we do

A decade spent swimming across a perilous sea,
and those wretched crustaceans returned
Unbeknownst to me

As I embraced you
your body had welcomed the ***** again
Not in your sweet sleeping mind

But the shelled creatures were dubbed
Cancer,
Fantasy ***** in the sky

That stars commanded that the cells
divide with no control
Destroying
I embraced those unforgiving creatures
The disease crawling inside you

I didn’t know
So I declare war
War on the decades old ***** that made you scream
War on the six month old crustaceans that took you away
Away

Out to sea
Inaccessible to the likes of me
But there are no ***** or pincers
Just you, you in heaven
Your escape from the sea creatures
Wrought a crown, a crown that declared that you are
the man most deserving of endless happiness and boundless glee
