Evocation
Soda bread was baked in a
bastable ***, the lid inversed,
covered with glowing embers
over a turf fire, in the hearth.
At the table, my grandfather
held it with his left hand and
shoulder, as a violin, cutting back
and forth with a knife, like a bow.
