you're much older than me
but when I watch you sleep
I can't help but see you
as a mere helpless baby

gentle breaths:
the rising and falling,
a smooth cycle
of your chest

small whimpers
and a gentle twitch
when you fall into
that peaceful slumber

as your back expands
I lay next to you
and watch..
as you then slowly collapse
