“Be careful” they said
But I didn’t listen
For I thought I knew
What was going to happen

“Be careful” they pleaded
Don’t live with your friends
Little did I know
What was to take place in the end

“Be careful” they advised
I didn’t care, I should have though
I was naive, but now I’m not
I want to run, I should have known

“Be careful” I whisper
I saw what came
I prepare myself
For the inevitable pain

“Be careful” I think
As I drift off to sleep
Don’t do this again
No regrets, but the lessons I keep
