Pity is a paralytic
chaining you to the past
the tiniest movement forward is
body shattering agony

let me be free from it
let me soar above
these waves of regret
this screaming sea of hatred
that has poisoned the core of me

the world is what
I take from it, what I
make of it

I do not have to grow
from the bitter seed
it has planted in me
