Dec 2012
I'm in the third season of my lifetime
The fall, to give a name
It's more like early winter really
Or late summer just the same

As the trees lay down their carpet
Of golds and browns and reds
I too am shedding cover
From the top of my bent head

Winter is fast approaching
A dormant time for all around
When snow falls down and surrounds us
It lands and doesn't make a sound

My winter too is coming
Retirement my future track
No more spring or summer lifetime
Just an old and aching back

My life has been a journey
I now have reached just past half way
Late summer was a new beginning
I found the love I have today

We will be together into winter
My hair already snowy white
I'm looking forward to September
First fall, is still inside our sights

I know the winter of my lifetime
Is still a future yet to be
But, even though I hate the winter
I'll do alright, if she's with me
