The worst type of love is that of unknown
As if touching her skin makes a connection
Or the subtle hints of regret in her tone
Thinking that the twinkle in her eye is a sign of affection
When really all she wants is to use him and leave
But he doesn’t understand her feelings
So when she’s gone he weeps
And then he gets sent back reeling
into the sea
To look for another fish that is as good as he
And when he finally finds one and let’s down his guard
The three words that follow hit really hard
Because if he means them and if they are true
When she moves away he’ll be darker than the darkest blue
So now that she’s gone he talks to himself
“Does she think of me sometime or am I just dust on the shelf?”
And that is the feeling of a love unknown
Because he’ll always love her as if she’s his own
But when he sees her with another guy
After two years it still makes him want to cry
Because that guy won’t love her as much as he does
And he’ll always carry this unrequited love
Like a burden on his shoulders because he’ll never know
If she still thinks about him as if he’s her own
And that my friends is the story of a love unknown.
