I remember all those times you asked me
To not replace you.
You whispered it, scared,
Told me to promise,
Like you thought I could leave even if I wanted to.
I always swore I never would.

I remember all those times I wanted to ask you
The same thing.
All those times I convinced myself
I didn't need to ask.
I thought I knew your answer would be
The same as mine.

It wasn't.
I should have asked.
