They say you'll miss the forest for the trees,
but I'm not seeking either, only peace;
reposed upon this log I sit and rest,
to find some quiet moments on my quest,
to feel the gentle breeze and hear the birds
and guard against contentious angry words.

It seems that all the world can do of late
is start another war and spread its hate;
yet now at loss for what I came here for
I find my log is seething with a war,
the irony of which I'd say perchance
is answered in the depth of warring ants.

Wherever two will vie for one resource
a war erupts as consequence of course;
and all the earth is overflowed with fools
who vie in greed and fight until one rules;
but I believe someday that this will cease
and earth at last will rest in final peace.
