My flesh goosed up
while my eyes
sized up
the mirror man
who was manically
laughing,
imprisoned
by our
momentary madness.

Wasted form
fitted for debasement,
consciousness
ready to face
self-denigration.

Body heat
bubbled up
like wild waves
of red fury
ready to rupture
and spew
hot lava.

Hate bled from my body
as I stared in defiance
longing to commit
depraved acts
of violence
against myself.

Pain pushed me
to escape
this reality,

as I longed for
the sick fog
of slumber
to cease
this sadness.
