I’d wake up every morning
To see a smile on your face
But, all I’d get was a disappointed scowl

Our nights were rabid
Our mornings even more so

I didn’t lose hope
I never lost hope

I chose to marry you
I chose this life
I wasn’t a quitter
And now wasn’t the time to begin

I’d wake up black and blue
With missing teeth
And an ache in my heart
But, no I didn’t lose hope

I wasn’t a quitter
And now wasn’t the time to begin
