In the darkness burns a lantern
held aloft by shepherds hand
calling home his flock like children
here within their promised land

Shadows flee before his glory
let the fallen now rejoice
as he raises all that see him
and except his love by choice

Fishermen and farmers too him
nets cast out and chaff removed
laying bounty there before him
whom by death his friendship proved

Tax collecter counting tribute
casts off shackles made of gold
swapping riches for his freedom
as he joined the growing fold

Sick and dying by the wayside
touch his hem and feel reborn
taking up their beds behind him
praising the risen son this morn

So this morning soft at daybreak
as the sun doth grace the skies
think of he whom died to save you
defeating death with love not lies
