the light was off now and when i open my eyes they seem to only trace the outline of your naked body against the milky light of the window peeking through the velvet curtains.
i reminisce of the kids we once were innocent conversations little jokes here and there play dates and whatnot. if you knew you’d probably send me to sleep.
so i stop. close my eyes and just listen to the room. the radiator rumbling like a low drumroll. your pattern of breath trailing in and slowly exhaling making me feel so secure. your dog laying at our feet and i hear him whimpering.. i caress his neck to his back with three strokes and he’s off dozing once again. don’t worry he’s better now.
you look so at peace free from any form of distress. i cup your cheek and you smirk. not sure if you’re still sleeping at this point.
