They rattle and strike below the earth
Gears and engines in the darkness

The swinging of rusted chains
Echoes from unseen caverns

Distant metallic churning at night
Grows closer during the day

They are coming
From where and when unknown

Yet they draw ever closer
The sounds of metal and machines

I fear they will soon be upon us
Whatever they may be
