Humanity was not inevitable.

One poisonous plant,

One predatory success,

One continental shift
or cosmic cataclysm,

One replication error
in our DNA chain,

One bad day
for our ancestor species
and we would never be.

The human ascendency
could have easily
been avoided
if mammals
hadn’t been able
to take the natural disaster
that demolished the dinosaurs
and exploit it.

More than a trillion things
had to go right
for human being
to exist and persist
in this existence,

but we were not guaranteed
and there is no universal promise
that we will continue to be.
