As we prepared for our last goodbye
I cleared my mind of the past
I memorized her face
For that was what was cast before me
I had to remember that moment
Without a memory of our mistakes
I wanted something good
To see an unknown beauty
To believe in love
A new beginning
And when you spoke
Your farewell was as sad as your hello
For I had rescued you once
And now as you again set yourself adrift
I watched a human heart that I once loved
Sink under the weight of an unsolved mystery
