Shared Grief
Your pain is mine
and yet
it isn't
I know
and yet
I can't know
in your soul
like a fragile snowflake
each memory
crystallizes
creating a space
a space to hold the pain
each remembrance
echoes
another note
in the melody
that plays
in a minor chord
every anguished face
rends your heart anew
your pain is mine
and yet
it isn't
I know
and yet
I can't know
the spaces in your soul
are different shapes
you alone hear
the haunting strain
the gaping wound
in your heart
is uniquely
yours
your tears
are knowing
tears
I can only cry
for
not knowing
