I've always been
a quiet soldier
fighting those
who would be
enemy to my skin

yet it's really all about
the skin we're in
the god awful epiphany
that most can't see past
its randomness

This flesh is but
a vehicle which
moves us

Usually without
nets or an airbag
we come into this
reality already
spoken for

and its the skin
that dictates how
you will be treated

I am the person
you'd least expect
to defend the skin

We are not ugly
nor absent of soul
we are the diamond
to your heaving
pile of coal...
