Past her fake smile she was a wilting flower,
her color fading with every passing second.
Alone in the abyss swallowed by shadows
slowly suffocating and dying by the hour.

Each petal a fragment of her broken heart
left to gently fall one by one. Hidden and
tucked away out of sight on the top shelf
because he preferred daffodils over roses.
