If I Knew
If I knew I was dying
I know what I would say to you
There would be no promises
Only words I know to be true
I could think of life after death
Or of dying after living
Which one would mean more
If it was to you the eulogy was giving?
Sometimes it seems so close
But only when I think of you
We gave each other a chance
Now you're on to someone new
I remember every kiss
Now it's something I can't find
Did you give them all away
Or did you just leave them behind?
If I knew I was dying
I would know what to say
I would be so honest
And you would live for today
