I've made mistakes in years gone by,
   oh yes I've failed so bad;
To think of all I've missed
   just all we could've had.

I know it's past, yet still it hurts,
   each dream that won't come true;
You'll never know just how it feels,
   in times I'm missin' you!

I know you have forgiven me,
   you've shown you really care;
But even though I've worked on me,
   it's us I can't repair!

So with these words I write for you,
   although we'll be apart;
Please know they couldn't be more true,
   or nearer to my heart!

You'll always be my love in  life,
   no matter what may come;
I'm sorry for the pain I caused,
   those things I haven't done.

I felt the hurt I put you through,
   your "goodbye" said it all;
For each time that you needed me,
  I seemed to let you fall.

So now in life we're moving on,
   we'll put the past to rest;
Since now I've learned from past mistakes,
   next time I'll do my best!
