the
selection
process
takes
it's
similar
to
picking
the
finest
of
cakes

on one side
there's democrat candidates
on the other
there's republican candidates

the primary's period
is where the wheat is sorted from the chaff
to find a personage
who'll hold the head nominee's staff

the hoopla goes on for
what seems an eternity
television ads telling
of the runners probity

by October the polls
give a reasonable indication
as to who'll lead
the great American nation

that November Tuesday
determines the commander in chief
phew the people say
*what a relief
