Jul 2016
there was
happiness, but
also sadness,
worry, fright at what
might follow today
tomorrow & thoughts
        dulling leaves,
bleeding meadows of
their green,
wild grasses
growing beneath beds
in boxes, scribbled
notebooks clues to
who we are,
each word
hidden in the dark
like moths
pressed against
the night,
                 desperately seeking
the light.
