Today you cut me down
A ragged wound caused by your ax
Heart racing, you chop me up
And burn me til i'm ash.

Today you cut me down
I'd tried so hard to grow my leaves
But as the weather got colder, i lost them
And never got to grieve.

Today you cut me down
After waiting for me to bloom
Just so you could take my fruit
And with your ax, resume.

How could you cut me down
When i only grew for you
Said my branches were too thin
And my flowers never grew

Today you cut me down
To almost nothing at all
I no longer reach the sky
I'm only 2 feet tall.

Today you cut me down
And left me bare for all to see
Til the day i realized
You'd just set me free.
