I cannot imagine myself living in a world
where you don’t exist.
Because in this world where all one can smell
is gun smoke and young blood shed on the pavements,
in this world, your breath makes the air pure
bearable to me,
even though you are so far away from my arms,
even though I will never have you
and I've never had.
Even though you've been only one of those vivid dreams
from which I wake up crying
and scared
and happy.

I woke up a long time ago,
but I can still feel the air
you were breathing out
into my soul.
